Steel City Dragons
Who We Are
The Steel City Dragons organization is made up of individuals and teams dedicated to creating a great dragon boating experience for anyone in the greater Pittsburgh area.
The organization has its roots in a dragon boating team formed in 2002 and formally incorporated in 2005. The current organization operates under a 501(c)(3) charitable non-profit corporation, the Steel City Dragon-Boat Association, Inc.
We have a variety of different teams for casual recreational boaters, young boaters (ages 10-17), competitive adults, and breast cancer survivors. Each team has organized practice sessions conducted according to strict safety rules by a trained member of the coaching staff.
The Steel City Dragon Boat Association, Inc. is presided over by a volunteer board of directors:
Lynne Franks-Meinert - Chairman of the Board, Membership Committee
Many of the board members fulfill multiple responsibilities and positions specified in more detail in the corporate bylaws.
The board holds an annual meeting between Oct. 15 and Dec. 15. and other meetings as necessary. The annual meetings are open to paddlers and other interested parties.
