Pink Steel golf fundraiser on October 11
Pink Steel is holding a "Tee Off On Breast Cancer" golf fundraiser on Monday October 11. It will be held at the River Forest Country Club in Freeport, PA at 11:00 am. Non-golfers are welcome too - a dinner-only option is available.

Local Pittsburgh TV station WTAE featured the Pink Steel breast cancer survivor team of the Steel City Dragons in a "Breast Cancer Survivors Take On Boating Challenge" segment aired on August 13, 2010.

Pink Steel hosting Fitness & Nutrition Workshop, Sept. 25
This workshop is open to breast cancer survivors and their families or friends to learn about appropriate fitness activities, participate in a sample workout, and network with other survivors. It will be held in the new Steel City Dragons team room at the Fox Chapel Yacht Club from 10am to 1pm on Saturday September 25. Email us at info@steelcitydragons.org to reserve a spot.

The Pink Steel breast cancer survivor team of the Steel City Dragons is the subject of an online article by Sports Illustrated. The article and a series of photographs by photojournalist Lynn Johnson profiles the team's training sessions, competition successes at Nationals, and the strength and camaraderie that make Pink Steel Special.

Steel City dominates in Cleveland
August 7, 2010
Two teams from the Steel City Dragon Boat Association swept first and second place at the 2010 Cleveland Dragon Boat Festival. The Steel City Dragons mixed adult crew took first place and the Extreme Dragons crew took second. Steel City had also swept the 2009 festival, with Extreme Dragons taking first followed by the Steel City adult mixed crew.


Pink Steel takes National Championship Cup!
July 25, 2010
The Pink Steel breast cancer survivor team of the Steel City Dragons won the overall championship of the BCS division at the United States Dragon Boat Federation 2010 US Club Crew National Championships in Chattanooga. Congratulations paddlers and coaches of Pink Steel!

"Pink House" initiative continues!

The Steel City Dragons continue to add teams and activities, and need a home! The "Pink House" initiative to acquire space for training, meeting, and events has begun and we're looking for potential supporters.

New paddlers can get on our mailing list, inquire about the 2010 season (and off-season activities) and ask any other questions by sending an email info@steelcitydragons.org. Stay tuned for more news!

Steel City Dragons Premier: Our premier racing crew is open to all adults. We practice three times a week in preparation for several out-of-town races.

Junior team: Our junior team is for boys and girls ages 10-17. They receive the same high-level coaching as our adult teams, and prepare for races in special youth divisions.

Breast cancer survivor team - Pink Steel: Our Breast Cancer Survivors' team supports breast cancer awareness and provides a positive athletic community for survivors in the Pittsburgh region. Survivors' teams are a rapidly growing sector in the world of dragon boating, with teams like Philadelphia's Hope Afloat competing and winning all over the world. For survivors, dragon boating offers an ideal exercise to enhance physical recovery bolstered by a supportive team environment. Click here for more information

Women's team - Women of Steel: Our women's team competes in events that have separate all-women's divisions.

Corporate/organization teams: We have coaches, equipment, and training programs to develop a team for your organization. Options range from one or two sessions to a full racing season. Contact us for details.

Who we are:

The Steel City Dragons organization is a Pittsburgh-area Dragon Boat Team. We formed in 2002 and had our first full competitive season in 2003 followed by 2004-2008 seasons filled with awards, medals, and growth of new teams. Many more activities are in the works for the coming years, including lots of racing at all levels and plenty of casual fun.
